What is skyrunning

“Skyrunning is defined as running in the mountains above 2,000m altitude where the climbing difficulty does not exceed II° grade (UIAA) and the incline is over 30%.”

ISF Rules

Skyrunning was invented by Italian mountaineer Marino Giacometti who pioneered records and races on Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa in the Italian Alps in the early ’90’s. In 1993 skyrunning took off across the world’s mountain ranges with a circuit of awe-inspiring races stretching from the Himalayas to the Rockies, from Mount Kenya to the Mexican volcanoes.

A number of awe-inspiring high altitude records across the world have also been established.

Over the years, unique scientific research has been carried out at altitude on athletes, before, during and after racing.

In 1995 the Federation for Sport at Altitude was created followed by the foundation of the International Skyrunning Federation in 2008.

#MYSKYRACE

The #MYSKYRACE is available to all participants to estimate their personalised finishing times and calorie consumption, in advance.

#MYSKYRACE supplies precious information to enable realistic goals to be set based on the personalised projected finishing time and the calories required.

The plan is also able to compare the runner’s time to the best performance on the course and athletes of other levels as well as fitness level and body mass index.
